VA tests 'Automatic Help' approach to get more smokers to quit
NCT ID NCT03477435
Summary
This study tested whether automatically referring veterans who smoke to quit support services (unless they decline) gets more people help than the usual approach where they must actively sign up. Researchers compared these two methods across VA primary care clinics with over 1,300 veteran participants. The goal was to find the most effective way to connect more smokers with proven quit aids like phone counseling and text message programs.
