Can talk therapy help patients cut opioids before surgery?

NCT ID NCT07221786

Summary

This study is testing if adding cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) to standard education helps people who regularly take opioids successfully reduce their dose before spine surgery. The goal is to see if lowering opioid use before the operation leads to better pain control and recovery afterward. Researchers will compare two groups: one receiving education only and one receiving education plus therapy sessions.
