New nerve block may cut opioid use in heart surgery

Summary
This study tests whether a numbing injection near the breastbone can lower the amount of strong painkillers (opioids) needed during heart surgery. About 80 adults having planned heart surgery will either get the injection plus standard anesthesia or standard anesthesia alone. The goal is to see if the block reduces opioid use, speeds up recovery, and lowers side effects like nausea or breathing trouble.
