Chicago fights opioid crisis by turning loved ones into lifelines

NCT ID NCT06823453

Summary

This study aims to prevent fatal opioid overdoses on Chicago's West Side by training friends and family members who don't use drugs to become 'harm reduction champions.' These champions learn about life-saving tools like naloxone and are connected with their loved one who uses opioids through a counselor. The goal is to reduce stigma, increase social support, and make it easier for people at risk to access help and avoid overdosing.
