First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 33 times

Summary

This study looks at whether using no opioids during knee replacement surgery can help prevent patients from becoming dependent on painkillers later. About 700 adults having elective knee surgery will be randomly assigned to receive either opioid-free or standard opioid anesthesia. Researchers will track pain levels and medication use in the recovery room to see if avoiding opioids early on makes a difference.
