New shot could ease Kids' tonsil surgery pain without opioids

NCT ID NCT07176533

Summary

This study is testing a special numbing injection, given during surgery, to see if it can effectively manage pain for children after tonsil removal. The goal is to reduce or eliminate the need for opioid painkillers, which can have side effects, especially in kids with sleep apnea. Researchers will compare pain levels and medication use over 14 days in 60 children who receive either the real nerve block or a placebo injection.
