Summary

This small, completed study aimed to understand how opioid addiction and withdrawal affect a person's ability to make decisions. Researchers used brain scans (MRI) and computer gambling tasks to see how the brain works during these choices in 12 people with opioid use disorder. A secondary goal was to test a safe dose of a short-acting opioid for use in future research.
