New court system aims to break the cycle of opioid addiction and crime

NCT ID NCT04216719

Summary

This study is testing a new type of court, called an Opioid Court, designed to quickly connect people arrested with opioid use to treatment and medication. It aims to see if this system works better than standard drug courts at helping people stay in treatment, avoid relapse, and not re-offend. The research is happening in New York State counties and involves court and treatment staff, not the defendants themselves.
