New jail release program tests better opioid addiction treatment

NCT ID NCT06306443

Summary

This study aims to find out which of two forms of the addiction medication buprenorphine works better for people with opioid addiction who are leaving jail. It will enroll 240 adults from a large city jail and randomly assign them to receive either a monthly injection or daily tablets. Researchers will follow participants for a year to see which treatment helps people stay in care, avoid using opioids, and improve their health and safety after release.
