Can knowing It's fake make pain feel real? emergency room tests honest placebos
NCT ID NCT06408519
Summary
This study explored whether giving patients sugar pills they know are placebos is a practical way to help manage sudden, unexplained pain in the emergency department. Researchers compared the 'honest placebo' against standard ibuprofen treatment in 57 adults to see if the approach was feasible and acceptable. The main goal was to check if enough people would agree to participate and follow the study plan, not to prove the pills work better.
