Yoga from home may ease breathing problems in lung disease patients
NCT ID NCT07540936
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether an eight-week online yoga program could improve breathing, exercise ability, and quality of life in adults with non-cystic fibrosis bronchiectasis, a chronic lung condition. Seventy participants were split into a yoga group (three supervised sessions per week) or a usual-care group. Researchers measured changes in walking distance, breathlessness, and lung function after eight weeks.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
online yoga program (breathing exercises, postures, relaxation)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a safe, at-home complementary therapy to help people with bronchiectasis breathe easier and feel better day-to-day.
What could go wrong
This is a small, completed trial with only 70 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and yoga is not a replacement for standard medical care.
