Could a single day of brain zaps curb suicidal urges in BPD?

NCT ID NCT07460947

First seen Mar 11, 2026 · Last updated May 17, 2026 · Updated 9 times

Summary

This study tests a new one-day treatment for adults with borderline personality disorder who have serious suicidal thoughts. It combines a medication (D-cycloserine) with up to 20 short sessions of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over about 12 hours. The goal is to see if the treatment is acceptable, safe, and can reduce suicidal thinking and other BPD symptoms. The study is small (20 people) and in early phases, so it's mainly checking feasibility and initial effects.
