Pregnancy OMT study halted early – too few volunteers

NCT ID NCT06570395

First seen Jan 05, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study looked at whether osteopathic manipulative treatment (OMT) – a gentle, hands-on therapy – given during the last three months of pregnancy could help shorten labor, reduce the need for pain medicine, and lower the chance of complications like tears or C-sections. The study planned to compare pregnant people who received OMT with those who did not, but it was stopped early because only 5 people joined. Because of the small number, the results are not reliable enough to draw firm conclusions.
