First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated Apr 24, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study tested whether omeprazole, a common heartburn medication, could prevent nerve damage caused by the chemotherapy drug oxaliplatin. 46 adults with colorectal or pancreatic cancer took omeprazole alongside their chemo. Researchers measured nerve pain and damage using questionnaires and blood tests. The goal was to see if omeprazole could reduce the severity of neuropathy, a common and limiting side effect of this treatment.
