First seen Feb 01, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 11 times

Summary

This study looked at whether taking omeprazole (a heartburn drug) and low-dose aspirin daily for about a month can help prevent colon polyps in people at high risk. Twenty-one adults with a history of multiple polyps took both pills before their first meal each day. Researchers took tiny tissue samples from the colon before and after treatment to measure changes in cell growth and gene activity that might signal a lower cancer risk.
