Kitchen staple tested to soothe debilitating dialysis itch
NCT ID NCT06737484
Summary
This study tested whether applying olive oil to the skin could reduce severe itching (pruritus) in people receiving hemodialysis for kidney failure. Researchers enrolled 68 patients, with half applying olive oil to itchy areas for two weeks while the other half received usual care. The goal was to see if the oil's moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties could ease this common and distressing symptom.
