Sniffing out clues: smell tests reveal brain secrets in bipolar disorder
NCT ID NCT06809881
First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 32 times
Summary
This study compared the sense of smell (odor threshold, discrimination, and identification) between 240 people with bipolar disorder and healthy volunteers. Researchers also looked at brain scans to see if smell performance was linked to brain differences. The goal was to better understand bipolar disorder, not to test a new treatment.
