First seen Mar 09, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 13 times
Summary
This study tests a therapy called oscillation and lung expansion (OLE) for patients on breathing machines who have collapsed lung areas (atelectasis). The therapy combines gentle air pressure, vibrations, and medication to clear mucus and reopen airways. Researchers will compare OLE to standard chest vibration therapy in 60 adults with tracheostomies, using CT scans and electrical imaging to measure lung improvement over 10 days.
