First seen Jun 30, 2026 · Last updated Jul 01, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether fisetin, a natural compound found in fruits and vegetables, can improve lung function in older adults. Researchers will give fisetin or a placebo to 40 people aged 60 and older, including both former smokers and never-smokers. The goal is to see if fisetin can clear aging cells from the lungs and help people breathe better.

What this could lead to
If it works, this could point toward a treatment to slow or reverse age-related lung decline, potentially improving breathing and quality of life in older adults.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase pilot study with only 40 participants. The results may not apply to everyone, and fisetin's long-term effects on lung function are unknown.
