New pill targets Cancer's weak spot: a hopeful trial for Tough-to-Treat tumors
NCT ID NCT03375307
Summary
This study is testing whether a pill called olaparib can help control advanced bladder and other urinary cancers that have specific DNA repair defects and have stopped responding to standard treatments like chemotherapy. The drug works by blocking a protein that helps cancer cells fix their DNA, which may cause the tumor cells to die. The main goal is to see if the treatment shrinks tumors in patients whose cancers have spread and are no longer controlled by other therapies.
