New imaging tool could save hearts: OCTAVE trial tests smarter stent placement
NCT ID NCT07422688
First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 10 times
Summary
This study compares two ways to guide treatment for blocked heart arteries in people having a heart attack. The standard method uses X-ray dye pictures (angiography). The new method adds a special camera (OCT) that gives a 3D view inside the artery. Researchers want to see if OCT helps doctors place stents better and reduces future heart problems, strokes, or death. About 3000 adults with a recent heart attack will take part.
