New imaging tech could save hearts: 3,000-Patient trial launches

NCT ID NCT07422688

First seen Mar 15, 2026 · Last updated May 23, 2026 · Updated 13 times

Summary

This study compares two ways to guide treatment for blocked heart arteries in people having a heart attack. One method uses standard X-ray dye pictures (angiography), the other adds a special camera that takes 3D images inside the artery (OCT). Researchers want to see if OCT guidance leads to fewer deaths, heart attacks, or strokes. About 3,000 adults with a recent heart attack will take part.
