New obesity drug's brain-body connection revealed in imaging study
NCT ID NCT05202353
First seen Oct 01, 2025 · Last updated May 20, 2026 · Updated 30 times
Summary
This early-stage study tests a new medicine, BI 456906, in 30 adults with obesity. It uses special scans to see how the drug attaches to receptors in the liver and pancreas that control appetite and weight. Participants receive either BI 456906 or the approved weight-loss drug semaglutide for 17 weeks. The goal is to understand how well the new drug targets these receptors, not to measure weight loss directly.
