Scientists probe link between obesity and painful kidney stones

NCT ID NCT04333745

Summary

This study aims to understand why people with obesity might be more prone to forming calcium oxalate kidney stones. Researchers are comparing how people with a normal weight and people with obesity process a natural substance called oxalate, which is a key component of these stones. Participants follow a controlled diet and provide urine samples so scientists can measure how their bodies absorb and excrete oxalate.
