Can a simple ultrasound score spot ovarian cancer?
NCT ID NCT07289126
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This study will check if an ultrasound scoring system called O-RADS can accurately tell benign from cancerous ovarian masses. About 80 women aged 18 to 70 with ovarian cysts or masses will get standard care, including detailed ultrasound and, if needed, surgery. Researchers will compare the O-RADS score to the final tissue diagnosis to see how well it works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- What this could lead to
- If successful, this could help doctors better identify which ovarian masses are cancerous using ultrasound, potentially reducing unnecessary surgeries.
- What could go wrong
- This is a small, early observational study, not a treatment trial. The scoring system may not be accurate enough to replace current methods, and results may not apply to all patients.
