Tiny trial tests Human-Derived implant to fuse slipped spine bones
NCT ID NCT05961956
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This early study is testing a new implant called NVDX3, made from donated human cells, to help fuse spine bones in adults with a condition called degenerative lumbar spondylolisthesis (a slipped vertebra). Only 5 people are enrolled, and the implant is placed during a single surgery. The main goal is to check safety, not yet to prove it works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
NVDX3 (a bone-forming implant made from donated human cells)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could lead to a new way to fuse spine bones using a single implant, potentially reducing the need for additional bone grafts.
What could go wrong
This is a very early, tiny study with only 5 people, so results may not apply to everyone. The implant is new and its safety and effectiveness are not yet proven.
