First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time

Summary

This study looks at whether providing daily nutritional supplements (like instant milk or soy drinks) can improve the health of malnourished older adults who live alone. Thirty participants will receive these supplements for 12 months while researchers track changes in their nutrition, muscle strength, walking speed, and mood. The goal is to see if this simple, low-cost approach can reduce the risk of malnutrition and frailty.

What this could lead to

If successful, this could show that simple nutritional supplements help improve nutrition, muscle strength, and quality of life in older adults living alone.
