Can fish oil and vitamin d stop COPD patients from wasting away?

NCT ID NCT07288619

Summary

This study is testing whether two common nutritional supplements—omega-3 fatty acids (from fish oil) and vitamin D—can help people with COPD who are experiencing severe, involuntary weight loss and muscle wasting, a condition called pulmonary cachexia. Researchers will give these supplements to 45 patients with COPD and cachexia to see if they can improve body weight, muscle mass, strength, appetite, and fatigue levels. The goal is to find a nutritional approach to ease these debilitating symptoms and improve quality of life.
