Simple blood test may predict heart attack outcomes
NCT ID NCT07369037
First seen Jan 30, 2026 · Last updated Jun 13, 2026 · Updated 21 times
Summary
This study looked at 1,000 people who had a severe heart attack (STEMI) to see if two simple nutrition scores, calculated from routine blood tests, could predict who would survive over the next two years. The scores, called CONUT and PNI, use levels of albumin, cholesterol, and immune cells to measure a person's nutritional status. The goal was to find out if being malnourished at the time of a heart attack is linked to a higher risk of death.
