Protein boost tested to help transplant patients stay strong

NCT ID NCT07168369

Summary

This study tested whether a 12-week high-protein nutritional drink could help patients maintain muscle mass and strength after a liver transplant. Thirty patients awaiting liver transplants were enrolled, with half receiving the supplement and half serving as a comparison group. Researchers measured muscle mass, strength, nutritional risk, and quality of life to see if the supplement was practical and helpful during recovery.
