Local clinic nurses challenge hospital doctors in fight against Drug-Resistant TB

NCT ID NCT05671718

Summary

This study tests whether nurses at local primary care clinics can provide treatment for drug-resistant tuberculosis that is just as effective and safe as treatment led by doctors at district hospitals. The trial involves nearly 3,000 adults in South Africa and aims to make care more convenient and affordable for patients. Researchers will compare treatment success rates, safety outcomes, and whether receiving care closer to home reduces financial hardship for families.
