Nurses on the front line: new ultrasound tool could help catch sepsis complications sooner
NCT ID NCT07406750
Summary
This study is testing whether intensive care unit (ICU) nurses can learn to use a specific type of bedside ultrasound, called VExUS, to reliably check for blood congestion in the veins of sepsis patients. Sepsis is a severe reaction to infection that can cause organ damage, and early detection of congestion might help doctors intervene sooner. The research will train nurses, assess how well they perform the scans, and see if the scan results are linked to patient outcomes like organ injury or length of hospital stay.
