First seen Dec 16, 2025 · Last updated Jun 10, 2026 · Updated 28 times

Summary

This study tested whether teaching nurses how to read ventilator waveforms and manage alarms could reduce breathing problems in children on ventilators in the pediatric intensive care unit. Sixty-four children were included, and nurses in one unit received special training while the other unit continued usual care. The main goals were to measure how often the child's breathing was out of sync with the ventilator and how many alarms went off.
