Baltimore nurses use texts and home visits to fight repeat STIs in young women

NCT ID NCT03828994

Summary

This study tests whether community health nurse visits combined with text message support can help young women avoid getting repeat sexually transmitted infections after being treated for pelvic inflammatory disease (PID). Researchers are working with 150 young women in Baltimore who have mild to moderate PID, providing them with 30 days of nurse support and education. The goal is to see if this personalized approach helps women complete their treatment and reduce risky behaviors better than standard clinic care alone.
