Nurses take lead in fight to stop HIV in women

NCT ID NCT05095818

Summary

This study tested whether having a registered nurse lead HIV prevention services could help more at-risk women start a daily medication (PrEP) that prevents HIV infection. The trial involved 440 women at risk for HIV who visited OB/GYN clinics. Researchers compared standard clinic care to a program where a specially trained nurse provided counseling, ordered tests, and helped start the prevention medication.
