New program helps dementia patients keep making their own choices

NCT ID NCT07347639

Summary

This study tested whether a nurse-led support program could help people with dementia living at home continue making their own daily decisions for as long as possible. The program trained nurses to focus on what people with dementia can still do, rather than taking over tasks too quickly, and included conversations with both the person and their family caregiver. While participants found the approach helpful for maintaining personal choice, the study didn't show clear improvements in quality of life measures.
