Nurses take the lead to get patients off breathing machines sooner
NCT ID NCT05000034
Summary
This study tested if intensive care nurses could safely follow a new, detailed plan to help patients breathe without a ventilator (breathing machine). The plan used a bedside monitor to track the patient's exhaled air. Researchers wanted to see if this nurse-led approach was practical and could reduce the time patients need the breathing machine, which lowers the risk of infections.
