Summary
This study tested whether teaching nurses how to read ventilator waveforms and manage alarms could reduce breathing mismatches in children on ventilators. It involved 64 children in a pediatric intensive care unit. Nurses in one unit received special training, while the other unit continued usual care. The study measured how often breathing problems occurred and how many alarms went off.
