New hope for aching thumbs: study tests gentler injection to ease arthritis pain

NCT ID NCT05992883

Summary

This study aims to see which type of injection works better for reducing pain from moderate to severe thumb base arthritis: a common steroid shot or an anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) shot. Researchers will compare pain relief, hand function, and grip strength in 240 adults. The goal is to find an effective treatment that might avoid the potential downsides of long-term steroid use.
