Summary
This study tests whether a special vacuum dressing (negative pressure wound therapy) placed on the closed surgical wound can prevent infections in diabetic patients who have emergency abdominal surgery. About 110 high-risk adults with diabetes will be randomly assigned to get either the vacuum dressing or standard wound care. The main goal is to see if the vacuum reduces the number of surgical site infections.
