New eye drops aim to slow diabetic vision damage

NCT ID NCT07198815

First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This early study tests NPDR-01 eye drops in 10 adults with non-proliferative diabetic retinopathy, a common eye complication of diabetes. Participants will use one drop daily for 6 months to see if it reduces tiny retinal bleeds (microaneurysms) and slows disease progression. The goal is to find a simple, non-invasive treatment to protect vision.

Active substance

NPDR-01 eye drops

What this could lead to

If it works, this could point toward a simple eye drop treatment to slow vision loss from diabetic retinopathy.

What could go wrong

This is a very early, tiny trial with only 10 people. It may not show clear benefit, and the drops might not work or could cause side effects.
