Skin sensor could spot hidden liver trouble in kids with heart defects

NCT ID NCT01891188

Summary

This study tested a special light sensor placed on the skin to measure oxygen levels in the liver of children with congenital heart disease. Researchers wanted to see if this painless, noninvasive method could reliably detect early signs of liver problems or shock. The goal was to find a safer way to monitor these children during and after heart procedures.
