Zapping heart scar tissue with radiation to stop dangerous rhythms

NCT ID NCT04162171

Summary

This study is testing a noninvasive, targeted radiation treatment for people with a dangerous, fast heart rhythm called ventricular tachycardia (VT) that hasn't responded to standard drugs or procedures. The treatment, called stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT), aims to precisely destroy the small area of scar tissue in the heart that causes the electrical 'short circuit.' Researchers are enrolling 12 patients who have already tried and failed other treatments to see if this one-time radiation session can safely and effectively reduce their dangerous heart rhythm episodes.
