Zapping heart scar tissue with radiation to stop deadly rhythms

NCT ID NCT04162171

Summary

This study is testing a non-invasive radiation treatment for people with a dangerous heart rhythm called ventricular tachycardia (VT) that hasn't responded to standard drugs or procedures. The treatment uses precise, high-dose radiation to target small areas of scar tissue in the heart that cause the electrical 'short circuits.' Researchers aim to see if this one-time treatment can reduce the number of dangerous heart rhythm episodes for patients who have run out of other options.
