Zapping heart scars with radiation to stop deadly rhythms

NCT ID NCT04162171

First seen Mar 20, 2026 · Last updated May 11, 2026 · Updated 10 times

Summary

This study tests a noninvasive radiation treatment for people with dangerous heart rhythms (ventricular tachycardia) caused by scarred heart tissue. The treatment aims to destroy the faulty electrical pathways in the scar using precise radiation beams, similar to cancer therapy. The study includes 12 adults who have not been helped by standard treatments like medication or catheter ablation. The goal is to see if this approach can reduce life-threatening heart rhythm episodes and avoid the need for repeated defibrillator shocks.
