Tiny plaques, big clues: study probes hidden heart risks

NCT ID NCT03632785

First seen Apr 07, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 7 times

Summary

This study looked at 90 people with low or medium heart risk to see if tiny, non-blocking plaques in the heart arteries affect how blood clots and how blood vessels work. Participants had a special CT scan to find these small plaques, and their blood was tested for clotting activity. The goal was to better understand early signs of heart disease that current risk scores might miss.
