NCT ID NCT06544395
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tests whether a non-invasive device that gently stimulates nerves can help people with long COVID symptoms like muscle pain, breathing issues, and loss of taste or smell. About 104 adults who had COVID-19 and still have symptoms for at least 30 days will receive either the real treatment or a placebo (device turned off) over 5 weeks. Researchers will track changes in symptoms and quality of life up to 11 weeks after starting.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
non-invasive neuromodulation therapy (device)
What this could lead to
If it works, this could offer a drug-free way to relieve lingering COVID-19 symptoms like muscle pain, breathing trouble, and loss of taste or smell.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-stage trial with no phase designation. The placebo group uses a machine turned off, so results may be influenced by expectation. Long-term benefits are unknown.
