New tools could spot dangerous brain swelling faster without surgery

NCT ID NCT06504238

First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 23 times

Summary

This study looks at whether simple, non-invasive tests—like measuring pupil reactions, brain waves, or skull vibrations—can help doctors detect dangerous brain swelling earlier in patients with serious brain injuries. The goal is to find better ways to monitor these patients without relying only on physical exams, which can miss early warning signs. About 720 adults admitted to intensive care with conditions like traumatic brain injury or stroke will take part.
