Hidden eye vessels may shield sight in macular degeneration

Summary
This study looks at whether a certain type of blood vessel that grows under the retina in age-related macular degeneration (AMD) might actually help preserve vision, rather than harm it. Researchers will measure how well the retina works in areas with and without these vessels in 73 adults aged 50 and older with AMD. The goal is to understand if these vessels are a natural protective response, which could change how we think about AMD progression.
