First seen Jun 27, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tested whether wearing noise-cancelling earphones during general anesthesia can lower the chance of moderate to severe pain after major abdominal surgery. Researchers enrolled 304 adults aged 18-70 undergoing elective surgery lasting at least 2 hours. The goal was to see if blocking out operating room noise could reduce pain scores and the amount of pain medication needed.
